Text alerts from kylefyle
kylefyle is the internal production platform used by Mertz Productions, a live-event production company. Staff and contracted crew use it to run the shows they are working — schedules, run-of-show cues, and show messaging.
This page describes the one text-message program kylefyle operates, and shows the exact opt-in as it appears when someone creates their account. There is no marketing, promotional, or sales messaging of any kind, and no public sign-up — accounts exist only for people working a specific event for us.
Who receives these messages
Only Mertz Productions employees and contracted show crew who have been added to a specific event by a producer. Accounts are created by staff invitation or by a crew member completing the invited signup at kylefyle.com. We do not buy, rent, or import phone number lists, and there is no way for a member of the public to sign up.
How you opt in
A mobile phone number is required to create a kylefyle account, because the office has to be able to reach crew during a show. Text alerts are not required. Consent is a separate checkbox that starts unchecked, and the account is created normally whether or not it is ticked — nothing on the form validates it.
This is exactly how it appears on the signup form, reproduced here word for word:
Only when you’re named directly — a mention, an @all, or a reply to you — and only when a notification couldn’t reach you. Never general chat. This is how a stage manager gets hold of you when a call time moves and you’re already driving. Optional: leave it unticked and nothing changes. You can turn it on later in Settings, or reply STOP to any message to stop. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply.
The checkbox above is a non-functional reproduction shown for reference. The live one appears on the signup form after you enter your email address, since kylefyle accounts are only created for invited crew.
What the messages are
A text is sent only when all of the following are true: you are named directly in a conversation about a show you are working — an @mention of you, an @all announcement, or a reply to something you wrote — and an in-app notification could not reach you at that moment.
General chat traffic never triggers a text. Neither does any announcement, newsletter, offer, or company news. The message names the sender and the show, and carries a link back to the conversation on kylefyle.com.
When you first opt in, you receive a single confirmation:
Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies and depends on how often you are named in a conversation during a show. In practice this is a small number of messages per show week, and none on days you are not working. Message and data rates may apply. kylefyle does not charge for text alerts.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them. Reply HELP for help. You can also turn text alerts off at any time in the app under Settings → Notifications → Text alerts, and turn them back on the same way.
Opting out never affects your account or your work — you still receive every message inside the app. Nothing about your access, your assignments, or your pay depends on whether text alerts are on.
